Community Outreach

 Image of CALIBRE employee helping children We believe it is essential to be active and helpful members of the communities in which we live and work. This notion is captured in our Strategic Plan as one of our six corporate objectives:
Be Good Citizens.

Each year, CALIBRE engages in a wide variety of activities that reach out to help those less fortunate and improve the quality of life in our communities. We are proud of our employees' efforts in this area and were recognized with the "Corporate Citizen Award" by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce in 2002.

Examples of our community outreach efforts are listed below.
  • We support a matching gift program for each employee up to $300 a year to be given to charities, churches, or causes we support as families and individuals.


  • We have a partnership with Franconia Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia, to whom we donate both money and services. Employees also volunteer their time with tutoring and mentoring activities.


  • We contribute money and services to the Laurel Grove School Association for the preservation of the one-room schoolhouse built by former slaves.


  • We participate in the Virginia "Adopt-A-Highway" program, cleaning up a section of a local public roadway to keep it free of litter.


  • We sponsor and conduct blood drives for the American Red Cross at our headquarters location several times each year.


  • We actively participate in Lee National Denim Day with donations going to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.


  • We support the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program with a company-wide collection each year.


  • We contribute used eyeglasses through the "Give the Gift of Sight" program for people in developing countries.


  • We contribute used cell phones to a domestic abuse victims' program.


  • We support homeless shelters, international relief efforts, and other programs with food, clothing, and other donations.


  • We participate in numerous walkathons (e.g., the March of Dimes) for medical research and outreach programs each year.


  • We designate our supermarket receipts for computers and software to schools with a particular focus on schools in less wealthy areas.


  • We collect boxtops and soup labels for schools that can be redeemed for cash to support educational programs.


  • Members of the staff donate their time to schools, faith-based organizations, and other outreach activities to help children and others in need of assistance.
CALIBRE takes its responsibility to "Be Good Citizens" very seriously. We are proud of the level of staff participation and involvement in so many activities that support our local communities and the Nation.
