State & Local Government
CALIBRE offers a wide array of tailored information technology
and management services to state, city, and county governments
to assist them in emergency preparedness and planning, economic
development, business retention, community revitalization, and
education. As an example, we conduct comprehensive needs assessments
that provide a blueprint describing the types and scope of information
technology solutions that best suit an individual community. CALIBRE
also strives to develop partnerships with local firms in an effort
to retain resources within the community. We offer tailored, integrated
solutions in the following areas:
- Local, Municipal, and Rural Area Network (LAN/MAN/RAN) Design & Development: A tailored computer network is a powerful economic development tool that can draw business and be an asset to community revitalization efforts. CALIBRE can design a network that allows agencies and departments to share information and communicate effectively, increasing efficiency and access. Our solutions teams can train agency/department personnel on network use and maintenance, thereby reducing the need for long-term dependency on a contractor.
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Applications: GIS is a critical component in emergency preparedness and services, tax assessments, environmental assessments, and community planning. CALIBRE can assess, design, and develop applications using state-of-the-market GIS technology. GIS allows you to create maps that can be shared and modified, and update data requirements from a variety of agencies and offices. By combining the geographic information provided on maps (spatial data) along with attribute information stored in databases and file drawers (non-spatial data), a GIS can manipulate data, allowing you to undertake a wide range of analyses, evaluations, measurements, comparisons, and simulations and display them in graphical and statistical forms. CALIBRE carefully considers Federal and State requirements in the assessment and design of a community's GIS applications.
- Community Learning and Education Centers (CLCs): CALIBRE can assess the educational needs unique to your community and then design a CLC based on those needs. A CLC uses distance learning technology to bring a variety of educational programs to a community. These can include vocational training courses, General Education Degree (GED) programs, English as a Second Language (ESL), or programs of specific interest to your community. A CLC can play a vital role in business retention, economic development and downtown revitalization. While a CLC is not designed to be degree producing, it can complement your local community colleges and educational institutions.
- Information/Resource Management & Cost Benefit Analysis:
CALIBRE offers a wide array of experience and capabilities
in these areas to include needs assessments, management support,
and the design and development of tailored information management
systems. Our teams can determine the true cost of your activities
and can make recommendations that result in both short-and
long-term cost savings and more efficient use of personnel
and their talents. These results can help your community plan
for the future by introducing better business practices that
improve communications and information sharing. Government
can thus become more efficient and more service-oriented for
its citizens.
