About Us

As employee-owners, we know and understand our fundamental responsibility to “add value every day” to this company we own.  The history of CALIBRE begins in 1989.  For over 20 years, CALIBRE has experienced strong, balanced growth. CALIBRE incorporates values that have remained the same throughout the years.  Today, CALIBRE has $157.9 million in annual revenues for the fiscal year ended 28 February 2011. Joseph A. Martore became chief executive officer 1 March 2010. Chairman of the Board, Lieutenant General Tom Carney (USA-Ret) states, “The Board of Directors, the senior leadership team, and our employee-owners can be proud of our accomplishments.  We continued to innovate, prepared our organization for the future, and delivered strong business performance and financial results.”   READ MORE >

History

On March 1, 1989, CALIBRE opened its doors for business with 44 employees, four contracts, with $3.8 million in annual revenue. CALIBRE closed its first year of business at $4.9 million. Since that first year, we have had 22 years of continuous growth, ending our February 28, 2011 fiscal year with 723 employees and $157.6 million in revenue.  And, we continue to support one of those contracts that we began with in 1989.

CALIBRE established its ESOP in March 1994. There are now 646 participants in the Plan. In 1997, the ESOP attained the majority ownership position (62.7%) and today owns 91% of the company. In 2001, CALIBRE consolidated its office staff located at Skyline Center in Falls Church, Virginia; Hedges Run, Woodbridge, Virginia; and Occoquan, Virginia, at our new headquarters at Metro Park in Alexandria, Virginia. This space is designed to meet our needs well into the future. CALIBRE also has employees on-site with customers at many locations nationwide and overseas.

In 2004, CALIBRE enhanced its capabilities and added to its staff and operating locations by acquiring Strategic Management Initiatives, Inc., and the Environmental Technology Solutions Division of Project Performance Corporation. Several acquisitions since then have been accomplished to support CALIBRE’s growth strategy.

UNITY, a provider of specialized expertise in facility condition assessments, performance-based contracting, resource allocation and budget execution, productivity enhancement, and process improvement – all in the fields of physical asset planning, construction, operation, and maintenance, was acquired in 2007. The acquisition enhanced CALIBRE’s core competencies and added to its staff and operating locations.

Maguire-Reeder, Ltd. joined CALIBRE in April 2008 and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary. Maguire/Reeder provides strategic communication services to a wide variety of Federal and Defense agency customers. Services offered by Maguire/Reeder include communication planning, production, and implementation, as well as training and educational courseware. The acquisition provides CALIBRE with premier strategic communications capabilities and adds to its staff and operating locations.

Today, we are financially healthy, solidly competent in our areas of expertise, intriguing to a host of new customers, and sought after by current customers for repeat engagements. We meet the business outcome measures called for by our Strategic Plan for revenue growth and increased value of the ESOP. Our books are in great shape and we continue to move forward. The investments we have made in ourselves over the years - technically, functionally, and competitively - continue to pay off. We pursue productive business relationships with a variety of other firms in areas complementary to our core capabilities. Our staff is professional, dedicated, and relentless in its pursuit of excellence and the satisfaction of our customers.

Our challenge is to maintain and improve the quality and creativity of what we do, accentuate our competitive differences, incorporate new and better ways of taking care of ourselves, and perpetuate an intense customer focus.

We want to be solution providers of choice in the wide-open competition for sharp, perceptive analysis and context-sensitive systems development and technology integration. This can only be accomplished by remembering the "first" principles to which we adhere: operate ethically, achieve superior quality for our customers, and renew ourselves. It is these principles that have attracted and retained a talented and capable staff who enjoy a reputation for product and service excellence as well as enthusiastic, loyal customers who value the work we do.  < SHOW LESS
